"...to learn that a rich person is not one who has the most but the one who needs the least." ~ The Interview With God
After yesterday's post, which focused on the appreciation of life and the relative meaningless value of money, I did not find it fitting to follow with a piece providing wisdom on the financial markets to end the week...
Instead, I found it appropriate to share The Interview With God, which, regardless of your beliefs, you will find quite worth one minute of your time. The premise is a person's dream that they had an interview with God and was allowed to ask questions. The quote at the top of this post was in response to the question, "As a parent, what are some of life's lessons you want your children to learn?"
The presentation is in the form of a slide-show with stunning photography and pleasant piano music as a backdrop. There are a few dozen priceless bits of wisdom presented throughout the slide-show. Here are a few of my favorites, which are in response to the question, posed to God, "What surprises you most about mankind?" That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again. That they live as if they will never die and die as if they had never lived. That they lose their health to make money... and then lose their money to restore their health.
There are many more gems to be found throughout. Once again, click here to view it...
What I find interesting with this interview is how infrequently money is mentioned. If you talk to someone on his or her deathbed, I doubt money would ever be mentioned.
Certainly, we need money, but it is not a means to an end. It is merely a tool that allows us to focus on what is truly important.

Kirk:
I agree completely. As a financial planner and investment advisor, I believe my most important job is to give my clients more freedom to pursue those pleasures in life that are most important -- none of which are monetary...
Caravaggio:
"The Message From God" is truly a beautiful spiritual message. I believe part of its power is that the words have universal meaning that provoke thought -- it does not "talk down" to the reader nor does it "preach."
Cheers to all...
